Case Studies
Oakwood Construction Services Ltd:Planning permission was refused for a development of luxury five and six-bedroom detached properties. An appeal was lodged, and a date set for a public inquiry.
Following an invitation from the local planning authority the application was resubmitted and planning permission was granted.
Our client was awarded costs by the Planning Inspectorate due to the unreasonable behaviour of the authority and the wasted cost of having to prepare for the proposed public inquiry.
Weston Homes Plc:
Weston Homes acquired the land with existing permission for 7 apartments. Following an initial feasibility exercise our planning team quickly formulated new plans, increasing the density of the development to 24 apartments.
As a result, the value of the land was significantly increased.
Prowting Homes Plc:
Prowting homes wanted to demolish two hotels and a restaurant in a seafront location and replace them with 18 luxury apartments. The application was viewed unfavourably by the planning officers because the hotels were in a protected tourist zone, planning permission usually being refused for residential development in these circumstances.
FPD Savills were commissioned to produce a hotel and tourism repot which concluded that the hotel accommodation was not of a standard likely to attract customers and its loss would therefore be of no detriment to the tourist area.
Despite the local planning officer recommending refusal, Landmark Planning obtained planning permission at a meeting of the full Council.
